This is part number THRCM13378DACEK. Here's what our brakes look like installed. Now this kit is a great option for you, because it has everything that you need in order to place one side of your axle brakes. You'll have a brand new rotor and hub assembly, a brand new loaded caliper, with your brake pads, and one thing that sets this apart from others is that this kit does come with new bearings and a seal, but it also comes with this bearing buddy here. Just take this cap off, and then this bearing buddy will force grease into your bearings so they're continuously greased as you're driving down the road, and that'll help reduce friction and heat and extend the service life between having to grease bearings.Now these brakes have a 7000 pound capacity, and they'll work with 7000 pound axles that have a five bolt mounting flange on them. more

They're also available in several different finishes.A disc brake kit like this one from Kodiak is an excellent solution to give us good braking force. Typically, for this kit anyway, you're looking at like a 3500-pound axle. A lot of boat applications, you're hauling a boat sometimes miles and miles and miles, and without brakes on your trailer, you put a lot of unnecessary stress and strain on your truck. A braking kit like this allows us to take the stress, the strain off the braking system on our truck but also gives us a safer ride.In this application we've got a surge coupler at the front of the trailer, so as the truck slows it applies the hydraulic fluid pressure, squeezing our caliper together giving us excellent stopping abilities. more

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the 10 inch Dexter Never Adjust electric trailer brake kit, for 3,500 pound axle, for the left and right hand side. It's going to be part number 23-468-469. It's also available individually for the left hand side using part number 23-468, and the right hand side, using part number 23-469. So here's what our brakes are going to look like once we have them installed. Now these are going to be a 10 inch diameter brake and be about 2-1/4 inches deep.Now one of the nicest things about these brakes is the fact that we're not going to have to adjust them, maybe the initial adjustment up front, but after that, they're going to be self adjusting. So wherever the brakes start wearing down, they're going to automatically adjust out, so they're at the right pressure. more

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the hydraulic brake kit U-Servo 00:00:02 free backing 12 inch left and right hand brake assemblies for five and a half thousand to seven thousand pounds. That's gonna be part number AKFBBRK-7.So here's what our brake assembly's gonna look like. The biggest benefit to our brake assembly here is that it is an entire assembly. We're not gonna have to worry about getting the hardware kit, a wheel cylinder, or anything else. As well as putting on the pads, they are hydraulic brake assemblies, which means they're gonna work with surge-type brake actuators.What's nice about these assemblies is that they have a free backing design. And what that means is, it's gonna let you back up without engaging the brakes, even if the actuator is activated.The fall-away brake shoe is only gonna anchor on the drum when the brakes are engaged, as the trailer is moving forward.The pads are gonna be fully bonded into the shoes and not riveted, which means that they're gonna give it a longer life and more of a bite on those brakes.The tapered edge at the bottom of our pad is gonna help prevent any kind of cracking and crumbling that can lead to a mechanical lock-up.Our brake assemblies are gonna have a fine tooth adjustment gear, and that's gonna allow us to fine tune our brakes, but it is a manual adjustment, so we are gonna have to check our brakes and adjust them periodically.There is gonna be a plug on the back that's gonna help keep out all the dirt and debris from getting inside, and this is right where we're gonna make our adjustments at.Now, the mounting flange bolt pattern is gonna be a five bolt, and it's gonna fit wheels 14 1/2, 15, 16, and 16 1/2 inch.Our brake assembly is gonna work with axles that are rated at 5,200, 6,000, and 7,000 pounds.Now, this is gonna include the left and right hand assemblies, so to start out, we're gonna go ahead and remove our drums so we can pull off this cap. more

These assemblies are free backing so the free backing design lets you reverse without the trailer brakes being activated. Hydraulic pressure is contained by the wheel cylinder and the brake shoe turns and releases pressure when reversing.Now you will notice that these have the silver color to them and that's because they feature galphorite plating, which delivers superior corrosion protection and rust resistance. Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the self adjusting 12 and one quarter inch diameter electric trailer brake kit with dust shields for both the left and right hand side for 10,000 pound axles, part number AKEBRK-10. Here's what our brakes are gonna look like, now the really nice things about this set is the fact that it's gonna be a complete unit, we're not gonna have to worry about replacing springs or individual pieces, it's just gonna be a simple bolt on design.Our brakes our a self adjusting design which means that once we have them set initially we're not gonna have to crawl underneath our trailer and mess with adjusting the brakes because they're gonna do it for us, which is really a nice thing because it's one less thing that we have to worry about. The way we're gonna make our initial adjustment is gonna be at the plug back here, it's gonna keep all that dirt and debris out from the inside of our brakes, we're gonna have a fine toothed gear to get our brakes set how we like them and set the initial tension.Our pads are gonna be bonded, not riveted, so we're not gonna have to worry about those rivets gouging into our drums and we're gonna have a nice tapered edge that's machine cut rather than snapped off so we don't have to worry about any kind of chipping or breaking on the edges here which is gonna give us more braking torque and give us a long lasting brake pad. Our brake assemblies are gonna be a 12 and one quarter inch diameter and they're gonna be three and three-eights inches wide. They do have a seven bolt mounting flange so make sure to check your trailer and make sure they'll match up and they are designed to work with 10,000 pound axles. Just keep in mind that the mounting hardware is sold separately, but you can pick it up on our website at etrailer.com.Now that we've seen what our brakes look like and gone over some of the features let's show you how to get them installed. more

Speaker 1: Today we're going to be taking a look at the Titan Disc Brake Kit. This offers a 10 inch hub and rotor, and the 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern with a dacromet finish designed for use with 3,500 pound axles. Part number is T4841400KIT.Now, the biggest advantage to going from, well, this trailer didn't have any brakes to start with, but either adding brakes to a trailer that doesn't have them or upgrading from the drum style, are going to be superior braking performance. Disc brakes work much more effectively than what drum brakes do. This is going to add a huge safety factor to your system, give you a lot more braking power back here, and get everything slowed down much more quickly than what you would with a standard drum brake setup.Now, the system's designed to work on your 3,500 pound axles, and it's going to use a four bolt brake flange here on the back. The rotor diameter is going to be 9-3/4 of an inch. more

Titan Trailer Brakes - Hydraulic Drum Brakes - T4423500-400 Review- Video
Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at these Titan 10 inch free backing hydraulic trailer brake assembly kit. It includes the left hand and the right hand side assemblies for 3,755 pound axles, and these have the galphorite finish on them. The hydraulic drum brake assemblies are designed for use with surge type trailer brake actuators. Now, these assemblies happen to be a free backing design and this will let you reverse without your trailer brakes being activated. Basically, the hydraulic pressure is contained by the wheel cylinder, so basically when you begin backing up in reverse, the brake shoes are firm against the drum as in a braking. As you continue in reverse however, the shoes will turn with the drum, until the lining pressure is released and you are able to back up freely.These assemblies do use a galphorite plating on them, it helps deliver superior corrosion protection. more

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna take a look at the Atwood 10-inch left-hand driver-side free-backing hydraulic drum brake assembly for 3,500 pound axles. Now, this hydraulic driver-side drum brake assembly is designed for use with surge-type trailer brake actuators.This assembly happens to be a free-backing design and that design will let you back up without engaging the trailer brake, even if your actuator is activated. Basically, these brakes are needed if your actuator does not have a reverse lockout, and the reverse lockout is a mechanism that'll ensure that the actuator does not activate when your vehicle moves in reverse. And you can always tell a free-backing design, because the primary shoe has a D-design to it you can see right here.Now, this is a manual adjustment brake, so it does require periodic manual adjustment. Right down here is your adjustment here. This is a single-servo design, has the single plunger. more

Speaker 1: Today we'll be having a look at and showing you how to install the etrailer electric trailer brake kit with 7" diameter brakes for the left and right-hand assemblies for 2,000 axles, part number AKEBRK-2. Here's what our brakes look like installed on our trailer now. As you can see they rotate nice and smooth because of all the new bearings. We're going to take it out on our test course and show you what the trailer is like without having brakes on it and with having brakes on it, and you can see how big the difference is.When it's going down the road without trailer brakes you can see that there is nothing helping slow down the trailer. It's actually pushing your vehicle along. With brakes on it you can see how the trailer's tires are actually slowing down and not pushing the vehicle towing it. more
